Finding food that my little one would eat and that was nutritious has been one of the more challenging pieces of raising a human. I’ve been slowly building a collection of ideas for meals that I could offer baby Z for 10 months now. Here are 10 ideas for a healthy, kid-friendly breakfast. With each meal I try to offer at least one fruit and/or vegetable, so you could add 1/2 a banana or another fruit to any of these ideas.
1. Fried egg and toast (buttered or dry)
2. Toast with almond/peanut butter and sliced banana.
3. Greens, fruit, and quinoa flake smoothie and waffles with almond/peanut butter (and maybe a bit of honey for little ones over 1). You can even get some fairly wholesome options from the freezer section of grocery stores to pop in the toaster.
4. Oatmeal – cinnamon, raisins, apples, honey, berries… So many options! You can even put it in the slow-cooker before bed and you’re ready to go in the morning. (Find a recipe like this on my Breakfast Recipes Pinterest board.)
5. Cottage cheese with pear and crackers. This is my spin on a dessert my Venezualan friend introduced me to as a cultural favourite. So yummy and healthy. You could use either fresh sliced or canned pears. Or any other fruit for that matter.
6. Quinoa cooked with a bit of cinnamon and apple.
7. Banancakes – Eggs, bananas and a variety of optional ingredients make for a quick and easy breakfast, with leftovers that make great grab-and-go snacks. A friend even adds in veggies to these sometimes. Find the recipe here.
8. Fresh fruit and almond butter whip – cut up apples, oranges, watermelon, pears, or any other fruit you can think of and serve with a bit of cream that’s been whipped without sugar.
Pin for later:
9. Yoghurt and cereal – Cheerios, Happy Puffs, Toddler-O’s, or whatever little grains you feel comfortable giving your little one with a plain, high milk-fat content yoghurt offers fibre, protein, and the healthy fats that will build baby’s brain.
10. Red River cereal – this beady-textured hot cereal was recommended to me by my midwife when my iron stores were very depleted. Mix with some blueberries or other berries (previously frozen or fresh), and you could add a touch of honey.
And a bonus 11. Fluffy Spinach Eggs – Get some leafy greens into your kids with these cool-colored eggs.

I think you have everything covered in your list! I love the pear, cottage cheese breaky! We have a new grandbaby who is living with us, so we’ll be making this kind of breakfasts soon! Thanks for the ideas! I like to make homemade waffles and cut them up into sticks and serve with fruit!
I love Red River Cereal with nothing but some fresh applesauce!
These are some fun, different choices that I think my little guys would enjoy.
