So you’ve joined Pinterest, pinned yourself a schwackload of awesome recipes, and now they sit on a board that doesn’t get reviewed. The neglected recipes with their tasty names and delectable photos taunt you, bringing attention (yet again) to the fact that there are a million amazing things you could be making, but don’t. So how can you actually bring to fruition your grand plans of recreating these delicious masterpieces that you’ve found?
How to Actually Use Pinterest Recipes
What I’ve found has been working wonder for me has been making this DIY Weekly Menu Planning Board. This one is seriously a life changer when it comes to the dinner-time blues.
This board is so simple to make, easy to use, and provides a fantastic way of adding in motivation that will bring your Pinterest recipe boards to life in your kitchen. When everything is set up, your meal plan made up, with the ingredients you need, dinner time comes and goes soooooooooo much easier than I was used to before this board. Now, instead of becoming a grumpy, hungry mama, who just felt overwhelmed, uninspired and lazy come dinner time, things fall in place without much of an effort at all.
Think about it: coming up with an idea for “What the heck are we going to have for dinner?” is a task all on it’s own. When you don’t have to think about that, life is much easier. All you need to do is glance at the menu board, pull out the ingredients you already have (or stop by quickly for the few items you don’t have on your way back home from playgroups/errands), and follow the recipe you already have marked.
It’s an easy, peasy no-brainer. Exactly what I need at the end of a full day when I’m ready to settle down for the evening.
This has been so successful for me, a seasoned ah-crap-it’s-frozen-pizza-again cook, that since I made this board weeks and weeks ago, I have only had ONE frozen pizza night. And the only reason that even happened is because this past weekend I forgot to set up my meal plan, leaving me feeling those meal-time blues and grumpies again. This has reminded me how much of a difference having a meal-plan makes, and how awesome this board is.
Whenever I’m feeling like I need a new recipe, I glance through my Pinterest boards (or my personal recipe books). I pick out a few recipes that sound delicious and are simple and easy enough that I don’t need to spend a fortune on fancy ingredients and can whip up in a short time-frame. I pull out one of the blank recipe cards from my board, quickly jot down the name of the recipe on the front, and on the back I write where the recipe is from (ie. Pinterest), what ingredients I likely would need to purchase that aren’t usually stocked in my pantry, and viola! So this is how you make use of Pinterest, instead of wasting your time drooling over pictures of food that never gets made!
If you’re struggling to get those nutritious and delicious meals made, I highly suggest you try your hand at making this board, or at least getting some sort of meal-planning routine together. And if you want to see what kind of recipes I have pinned on my board, follow me on Pinterest and check out these Delicious-Looking Recipes. Some of my favourites are the slow-cooker recipes that require very little effort and cook themselves in time for dinner while I’m out all day. I also have boards of Gluten-Free Snacks, Fun Appies, Breakfast Recipes, and Delectable Desserts to keep your mouth watering.
