I am Canadian and am proud to be so. Yes, our history may have some dark spots, and there is much that still needs to be done to reconcile Canada’s less-than-ideal beginnings. However, I’m choosing to celebrate our great country for the beautiful nation that it is, and the many amazing people that reside here. And what a better way to share my love of Canada than to offer up some ideas for ways we can support and show love for Canada.
Whenever possible, you can help to support Canada’s influence on the internet by purchasing a .ca domain name. If you’re a Canadian business that plans to sell mostly to Canada, this may also help you find more Canadian customers. (You will note this is something I didn’t do back when I started my blog, but something I wish I had done.)
There are so many places these days to buy anything and everything. Shopping locally has a plethora of benefits to you, others, and the environment. When you buy Canadian-made products from Canadian businesses, you are helping to support our local economy and real people right here in Canada.
If you’re looking to find some new Canadian small businesses, Canadian Originals is a new subscription box service that specializes in sending out a carefully compiled collection of handmade Canadian products each month. You can watch me unbox my first Canadian Originals box here. If you’d like to win a July subscription box of your own, make sure to read to the end of this post for an exclusive giveaway.
While one vote may sound insignificant, it really does count. Especially these days when the vote counts come so close. Even if you think it won’t matter, please please get out and vote in your provincial and federal elections. Support democracy and the Canada you want to see!
Support local food production and buy local meat and produce as often as you can. Not only is it good for Canadian farmers and our economy, but you’ll likely be getting fresher, healthier food and helping make the connection for yourself and your family about where food comes from.
Perhaps the most obvious thing you can do to show love for your country is to proudly fly it’s emblem. Whether you fly a flag from your flag pole, wear a Canada flag pin on your lapel, or stick a Canadian bumper sticker on your car, let your love for Canada show!
As promised, below is the giveaway widget for you to enter for your chance to win one (1) July Subscription Box from Canadian Originals. Giveaway open to Canada only, 18+. More on terms and conditions can be accessed within the Rafflecopter entry form below.
Disclosure: This is not a sponsored post. (Although, I have included affiliate ad links for which I will receive a commission on any purchases made through this link.) In honour of #Canada150 I am honoured to be able to help spread the word about Canadian businesses and include comment on Canadian Originals subscription boxes. I have not been compensated for this post, though I did receive a lovely July subscription box as a thank you and to help me share about Canadian Originals. You can view my full disclosure policy here.

I was not born in Canada, although my father is a Canadian. I did not realize I wasnt a Canadian til in my late 40’s when I tried to go to the US and get a passport…took almost a year to get a landed immigrant card because I didn’t actually have a birth certificate (what I had shown as an ID, I was told that the dept of defence could not issue ID’S lol) Was a very interesting year. I’ve been in this country since I was 7 months old, have worked here and have a SIN since I was 11 (I worked for my parents) I’ve voted and contributed to the country and although I think my province might well be the coldest, I’d not leave for anythig (ok,well maybe 50 mill… lol)
