Wooo! Today, my dear reader, I mark a great achievement in my short writing life.
Committing to something is easy. It goes something like this. Actually following through on that commitment is where I often fall short.
Well, this time I’m sticking to it. What I’m writing right now, this very minute, is the 100th post to be published on this blog. Personal victory, right here, folks!
I’ve learned more about online marketing, social media, and the web universe than I ever imagined, in just a few short months. Not that I know an incredible amount, but I know some things. I’ve grown on many different social media platforms that are consistently climbing every day. I’m far from making this a real-deal business venture that brings in the big bucks, but there are bucks, and the future looks promising. I have to give myself credit for getting this far, and continuing to push on forward. I’m fully committed to this work of inspiration, support and personal growth.
If you don’t try, you never know. Right?
I will make something worthwhile out of this blog, just you wait and see. Actually, I feel I already have.
Sharing my thoughts and opinions on not-for-profit projects like this one helped to generate sales for mothers in communities where they can lead the way out of poverty. I’ve given small businesses like this one their own little mark on the internet, where they can be searched for and will be seen by a much broader audience than social media alone. I like to help people, and writing on this blog has given me a genuine opportunity to show support.
Beyond this, I know I’ve connected with people. I know, because I’ve been told on more than one occasion, that my words have been what some others needed to hear. And if I can say anything that will help make one single person feel happier in any way, I’m going to do it.
To mark this moment of achievement, I’m going to give you a bit of a recap of my favourite posts up to date.
This post was the very first post on the blog. In writing it, I helped myself realize what it was I was actually trying to do, and defined for myself some things that are important to me.
Fixing food is not my forté, but I decided to start sharing my culinary experiences (both good and bad), with this post on the most delicious broccoli salad you’ve ever had. Seriously, try it out and see what I mean (hint: bacon makes everything fabulous – except for ice cream… hmmm… no I think that could be amazing, too).
Beating the Baby Boredom was a post I originally wrote and featured on Salt Spring Families, but I loved it so much and had such a great response from it that I edited it to inspire a wider audience and reposted it here. If you’re finding yourself bored at home with a baby or toddler, I encourage you to take a look and see if any of my ideas could help make your day more enjoyable.
The very first post I shared publicly, and broke through my fears of having what I write actually seen by people I know, was this post about my little Z’s first birthday.
After I was privileged enough to take part in the coolest idea for a birthday party ever, I just had to write about it and inspire more people to host a celebration like this (and hopefully invite me to the fun, too).
I’m constantly thinking back to this post about my personal struggle, as it so often applies to many different parts of my life (as I imagine it will for the rest of time). It’s a good reminder to myself to let the little things go.
The idea behind this post on “The ‘Right’ Way to Parent” is something I think about over and over and over again. I even wrote this follow-up post in regards to it, as I had something I needed to clear up.
When I went to man a household, 2 young children, a baby and a new (and crazy) puppy by myself, I wrote a series of 4 posts starting with this one to share the ridiculous scenarios I was finding myself in, and explain what was getting me through the challenges (and the fun).
Respect is a high priority value for me, so writing this post with some ideas of how to raise a respectful child was an important one to me.
This post about all the reasons I LOVE my career choice with children was so well-received that I was asked if it could be featured here on MomCafe.
My first giveaway post was a welcome way to boost my views, support a health-promoting company, and share freebies with you readers.
I was unprepared for how quickly and broadly this post would spread! A very happy surprise. Thank you to everyone who shares my posts when they resonate with them. You’re really helping me out! (PS It even helps when you “like” or comment on them, so thanks for that, too.)
I owe what I came to find out in this post on spending time with my little one to the snowball effect of blogging-resolving-accountability.
Playing guitar is so therapeutic and soul-filling for me. I loved writing this post on some simple steps to teach yourself guitar (or ukulele).
When your birthing experience doesn’t turn out how you planned, it can really bring you down. In this popular post I shared my experience and a healthy way to gain some perspective.
Getting out of the house is often essential with a little one, so I wrote this post with some great ideas about where to take a toddler.
I shared this epic culinary fail to (hopefully) crack some smiles and help others realize that there is someone with less kitchen skills than yourself (and that would be me).
I love working with the #OneDayKids campaign, and this post I wrote for them includes a cute video story of my little munchkin.
The DIY project I made that I share in this post very seriously changed my life, and has left me feeling much happier at dinner time. Could it change your life, too?
The world needs more of this. I’ve been told by a reader that this post resonated so much with her so much that it made her cry (in a good way). I love supporting people this way.
Lastly, this is the second of two giveaway posts for Global Mothers that I’ve written to support this fantastic project, and give away awesome goodies. You should enter to win! It’s easy and you really do have nothing to lose (even your email address stays safe, and I will be the only one collecting it to use only if you win to contact you).
Thank you for reading!! If you’ve come this far, I’d love if you could do me a big favour and share this post in any way!
