Squeeze Please! Reusable Baby Food Pouches

Our little one has been a bit of a challenge on the eating front since we introduced solids at 6 months. At one year there were a few things that she would usually gobble down (read that post here), and we’ve been adding new items to the list almost every week since then (like these things). We’ve tried different methods and tricks to get her to eat more, but compared to some of the other little ones we know, my Z eats like a bird.

Because we’re still breastfeeding, I worry a little less that she’s getting nutrients, since she’s still getting some from me in addition to the little bit she does eat, but that’s not going to last forever. With my milk supply dropping and her active little body burning energy like nobody’s business, I want to be able to get as much good food in her belly as I can.

And thus, the squishy packs. When I found the prepackaged baby food squeeze packs in the stores, I was surprised to see that the ingredients in most of them are very wholesome, and many are simply pureed fruits, vegetables, grains and yoghurt, with lemon juice as a preservative. So I started buying and using these to keep my daughter fed when she wouldn’t eat other food from our meals. These have been a lifesaver, and are so easy to grab and feed to her on the go, or at times where we really have nothing in the house that I feel comfortable feeding her (steak and ribs aren’t exactly my idea of baby-friendly foods, but I still enjoy them for dinner sometimes).

Then I came across Squeeze Please, a Canadian company that makes refillable, reusable baby food pouches for putting in purees and squeezable foods. These are AWESOME! How they work is you put the twist-on cap on the spout where the food squeezes out, scoop/pour in whatever you’d like baby to eat, and close the zipper part at the bottom of the pouch (just like a ziplock bag).

So far, I’ve made a puree in my food processor of some things I had handy that needed used up (avocado, banana, hemp hearts, blueberries). I’ve also used these many times so far to scoop in some plain, high-fat yoghurt, added a scoop of flavoured, naturally sweetened protein powder (I’ve tried both vanilla Arbonne protein powder and strawberry Isagenix protein powder), or Arbonne’s concentrated greens powder, and squished it around in the pouch to mix before giving it to my little one. She seems to love gobbling up the tasty, aspartame- and sugar-free flavoured yogurts. (Stay tuned for a post on my experience trying out some Arbonne products coming very soon!)

To order your own Squeeze Please reusable baby food pouches, click here to head to the Squeeze Please website. I hope you enjoy using them as much as I have so far, in the short time we’ve had them. I would love it if you would share any puree recipes you’ve made up using these pouches, either in the comments below, or on the Facebook page for this blog.

Bon Appétit, little ones!

*Disclaimer* Although I did receive some fantastic squeeze packs to sample for free on behalf of Squeeze Please, all of the above opinions remain my own true thoughts and experience. I’m saying these are great because I really believe they are! You can find my full disclosure policy here.
