I’m Proud to Have Pride, and Here’s Why

I’ve heard a few people expressing their distaste of pride recently. It breaks my heart a little bit.

(It’s at this point that I’m going to explain that “pride” in this case is not referring to the celebration of the 2SLBTQ+ community, but rather to having pride in oneself.)

Why aren’t humans allowed to be proud of themselves? To see their worth and magic and know and share that they are the magic that they are?

As if we don’t have enough problems with confidence. As if we don’t grow up feeling worthless for many reasons. Some of us have wished very strongly not to be here being a worthless burden on the world any more.

And for some of us – like me – I am the ONLY human who will sing my praises. My mom is not alive anymore, my husband hardly likes to admit he exists let alone his wife, most of my own childhood family is removed from my life.

There is no shame in feeling proud of the human you are and are becoming, and for what you add to the world. There is no shame in saying “I am awesome”.

Because you are. You are INCREDIBLE!!

Go ahead, be proud. I’d rather that than try to convince you you deserve to live.
