Roly Poly is one of my favourite songs for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers in early learning programs where I’ve been a part of. Like many kids songs, this action song encourages movement to develop motor control and coordination, while offering a chance to learn about opposite concepts, like up-down, in-out, loud-soft, etc. You can read more about the benefits of song in early childhood here.
I admit, the quality of this video isn’t on par with a studio production. However, the point is to hear the words and melody, and to see the actions so you can share them with the little ones in your life. Enjoy!
As you can see, “Loud!” is Z’s favourite concept right now. What other opposites can you sing to this song? Leave me a comment below if you have some ideas to add, or if you know any other awesome songs for babies and kids that I should hear about.
Did you know this is part of a mini-series on my blog (as part of a weekly series called Toddler Tuesday) on music in early childhood? Go back and read the following posts for more information.
